How to Install Third Party applications on your Android phone 

Android , the new market master is dominating the market day by day with its wide range of products and application support .Though Android is the most popular and fast growing market ,as a new comer it lacks the adequate online support for its customers .

Another limitation of Android is on the area of applications. Though the Android market does provide a wide variety of applications, it sometimes is not enough for the customers to satisfy their needs. A solution for this could be the third party applications.


Many third party applications are readily available in the market that could be downloaded and the greatest advantage of Android is that it doesn’t lock your phone like Apple do ,but allows you to install any third party application on your Android device.

Let’s see how to download and install a third party application on your Android device.

Step 1: Locate and download the third party software

Find the right application for your need .There are many free and paid third party Android applications available that you cannot find in the Android Market. Once you locate the application ,download and store it on your external storage. Make sure that the file format is .APK(Android Package).

Step 2:Download and install an App Manager from Android Market

There are many App manager applications available in the Android market both free and paid versions. Download any of them and Install it on your phone .You may also need to install a File manager in case if you don’t have one on your phone as this would help in locating the downloaded .APK file in the external storage

Step3:Configure your device to accept non-market applications

Before installing a third party non-market application on your android device you have to enable the device to accept the non-market applications.

To do this follow these steps:

Tap MENU-->Go to Settings -->Applications-->Check and enable the box labeled unknown sources

Now your Android device is ready to accept applications from outside the Android Market.

Step 4:Install the software

Now you are ready to install the software.Put your external storage into your device and locate the .APK file stored in it using the File manager.Once you locate the file tap on that file which provide you with an option to open the AppManager.

Click on the Open App Manager button then you will be provided with all the informations about the application and the Install button as shown below.Click on it and the application will get installed on your Android device.You can see it on the installed application lists in the device’s application drawer. 

 

Step5: Disable unknown sources: 

You should disable the enable unknown sources as this could make your device vulnerable to malicious softwares.

Go to Menu-->Settings-->Applications-->Uncheck enable unknown sources.

Caution:

1.The applications should be downloaded from trusted sources only.

2.Verify that the file format is .APK(Android package)

3.Remember to uncheck the unknown sources option after installation
