Instagram, the photo-sharing app that was created for mobile phones, is expanding to the Web. The service will launch Instagram profiles on the Web over the next few days. Previously, users' profiles existed only on Instagram's mobile applications accessed on the iPhone or Android devices. 

 Instagram ,owned by Facebook Inc. announced its web launch in a blog post on Monday. According to them the Instagram users will be having a website with a profile picture,with their bio and a selection of snapshots which they recently shared on Instagram.The page would look almost same as the facebook page ,filled with the instagram photos but with little text and no ads.Also it would be having a cover photo which would be a collection of your instagram photos.

 

According to Facebook,Instagram would be kept as a separate service and wouldn't be linked to facebook .

Instagram service would provide users with complete privacy as they can choose their viewers for their pictures.The photos on Instagram could either be set to public, for all viewers to see and comment and there would be option for choosing specific viewers also.

Instagram is a free photo-sharing program and social network that was launched in October 2010. The service enables users to take a photo, apply a digital filter to it, and then share it with other Instagram users they are connected to on the social network as well as on a variety of social networking services.

A distinctive feature is that it confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 4:3 aspect ratio typically used by mobile device cameras.

Instagram was initially supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch; in April 2012, the company added support for Android camera phones running 2.2 (Froyo) or higher. It is distributed via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
