The Super-capacitor,a tiny device that could fit inside batteries to allow them to charge within less than 30 seconds. It can pack a lot of energy into a tiny space and gets charged quickly. It has the capacity to hold the charge for a long time, reported NBC news.
According to Eesha, her device can last for 10,000 charge-recharge cycles, when compared to 1,000 charge-recharge cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries.
She has been awarded $50,000 for her invention. The device is currently tested on LED lights only, but according to reports it has the potential to work with larger devices like mobile phones. The device is flexible and thus could be used in rollup displays, clothing, fabric and a wide range of other applications, said Eesha.
Eesha currently lives in Saratoga,California. She is focusing her interests in nanochemistry and according to her "really working at the nanoscale to make significant advances in many different fields."
