Samsung Galaxy S4:What's New with the Life Companion?

Samsung launched their new flagship phone the Samsung Galaxy S4 the fourth generation Galaxy smartphone in an event in New York on March 14.There has been a lot of rumors about the new Galaxy S4 after the success of its predecessors the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2.


Samsung also had clear ideas with their new smartphone ,to become the top in market share ahead of Apple.They Introduced their new Galaxy S4 with a new Caption "Life Companion" from their earlier one "Designed for Humans,inspired by nature".For Samsung it's a new beginning and could it live upto the expectations? Let's see.

Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a handful of features with not much change in its outer design.It has an increased screen size than S3 and has a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 441 ppi.The phone will be powered by a 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Processor or a 1.6 GHz Octa-Core processor with 2GB RAM,it depends on the market on production time.

Running Android 4.2.2(Jelly Bean) OS, the Galaxy S4 has a 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera with flash and zero shutter lag. It has a 2 megapixel front camera with Full HD recording @30fps with zero shutter lag.

The phone will come in three variants - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB; it allows you to expand the memory up to 64GB via a microSD card.

It is powered by a 2600 mAh battery and supports HSPA+42 Mbps and 4G LTE. Its connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (HT80), GPS / GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), IR LED (Remote Control), MHL 2.0.

Samsung doesn't seems much concerned about the look and feel and as most phones in this range comes with metal finishes Samsung satisfied with its plastic cases but managed to make it look expensive.
The Galaxy S4 for sure would be the fastest phone as powered by a Octal-core processor and a 2 GB RAM.Also its stunning display with a larger 5-inch size and a resolution similar to a HD TV makes it stand apart.But are these features enough to make it unique.No not at all,as some high cost smartphones and HTC one and Sony Xperia already offering almost the same .
There are a lot of new features that Samsung added to its new smartphone.Let's see how they come handy:

Eraser Shot and Drama Shot:

The eraser shot is a cool feature allowing you to erase the unwanted items from the shots.This would be helpful if taking a shot in the crowd and doesn't want the crowd to be messed up with your shot.
Drama shot can be used to capture the movements of an object in a single shot.This feature like that of a sequence shot which is incorporated into a single image makes it look cool.Could be handy for dancers for a closer look at their steps.

Sound & Shot

Sound will be added with the snap and i don't know where this could be helpful.May have to find some areas for application later.

Dual Recording and Dual Shot:

Dual recording and dual shot are two cool new features that help in taking shot with both the cameras at a time.Camera will add the photographer's photo in an insight along with the shot and the image seems little cluttered yet good to know that he was there.

Story Album:

Story album is a new feature that arranges your pictures based on the subjects and locations rather than the dates.

Smart Pause and Smart Control:

Smart Control uses your gaze to control your device.It will pause the video when you look away and could scroll your pages up and down with your eyes movements.This feature keeps track of your eye's movement and all time usage don't know might consume your battery alot.

Air View and Air Gesture:

A similar feature like smart control here you can swipe through the screen even without touching it.The gestures above the screen would do it for you.This feature is good but not all applications support this feature is a demerit

S-Health:

Samsung seems to be more concerned about their Customers' health.The new application S-health can keep track of your health conditions and could provide you with alerts for staying healthy on the go.The two more gadgets the S-Band and Body scale is used to work synchronized with this .

S-Translate:

Of all the new features this seems much more useful if you travel a lot.This helps you translate upto 8 languages for now .If you have to ask someone for something and you don't know the language just tell your phone what you need to ask.It will translate it to the required language and play and this works in reverse also like it translate the speech to written form in your language.

Wireless Charging:

Samsung galaxy S4 comes with wireless charging option.

Game pad:

 

Samsung Galaxy S4 has been designed in a view of a whole new experience for the gamers.With its faster processor and HD display it could be done easily.To make it even better they provide an add-on the gamepad with navigation keys and game console . It's these features that makes Samsung Galaxy S4 stand apart.But there are some critics from various competitors like from HTC as they said "there's nothing new with S4 and all those features are already available and HTC One could do better".As there has been patent wars going around among Apple and Samsung for their iPhone5 design issues there has been a joke going around like "Apple gonna sue Samsung for taking their brand name 4S though in reverse ,for S4" ,whatever ,it's Apple whom Samsung is trying to sue.Now it's time for Apple to think about What would have Steve done in this situation.

With all these going around the Samsung Galaxy would be available only by mid-April and in some regions like India it would be on early May.
There's no words about price yet but it's said to be coming around $199 with some contract with the carriers like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon.
The price in India is expected around Rs.45,000 and availability is expected only on May.
